SOLART is a virtual universe — a space of planets, each dedicated to a single artist. It is not a gallery in the traditional sense, nor a simple exhibition. It is a journey across artistic worlds, shaped with care, silence, and deep respect for the voice of each creator. The idea began in 2018, when I was asked to prepare a digital presentation of four visual artists for the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum. Instead of placing all the works in one shared room, I imagined a universe. A galaxy of unique, personal planets. And thus, SOLART was born. ⸻

NOT A GALLERY AS YOU KNOW IT
Each planet was created in close collaboration with the artist — when possible — or with great care and research in the case of those no longer with us. The scenes were not rushed. They were shaped over time, step by step, with pauses, reflection, and many revisions. As it should be.
SOLART was never meant to mimic the architecture of a real-world museum. It was meant to free itself from it. Here, each artist is given a space of their own, untouched by the presence of others. There are no white walls competing for attention. No curatorial constraints. The visitor enters a world shaped entirely by the artist’s vision — sound, space, light, texture.
The experience becomes emotional, immersive, and deeply personal. The visitor is not just “looking at art” — they are drawn into it.
CREATION PROCESS
The project has been created entirely in-house — design, music, development — all built from the ground up. Unreal Engine was chosen from the beginning, not for technical reasons, but because it allowed a visual and intuitive way to build interactions without writing code. Some elements were created manually before tools like Quixel became widespread. Artworks were digitized using 3D scanning and photogrammetry, and carefully placed into environments shaped to reflect the spirit of each artist. Each planet is a scene (or level), connected to a central space — the shared universe — but always reachable without using traditional menus or UI. The intention was to keep the experience pure and uninterrupted — as if floating between atmospheres, not clicking through interfaces. Some planets took weeks to create, others came together more quickly — each followed the rhythm of the artwork itself.
THE FUTURE OF SOLART
The dream is to grow this universe. To create more planets. To invite more artists into the orbit — especially those who have struggled to find space in traditional galleries:
not enough walls
not enough interest
not enough budget
With SOLART, each artist can be given a permanent world, crafted specifically for their work. A world that reflects who they are — or who they were — with dignity and emotional depth.
A PERSONAL WISH
Although the project started from a technical challenge, its deeper impulse came from two artists: the Augustín brothers, whose own works were often underrepresented or overlooked. I would like to thank them by dedicating two new planets in SOLART to their work.
I have already digitized part of their archives and designed their planetary scenes — but at the moment, the project remains suspended, waiting for the time and means to continue.
WHAT SOLART ASKS FOR
Not funding for a product.
Not a commercial launch.
Just support for a vision:
To offer artists a space where their work can truly breathe.
To give the world a living, growing galaxy of art.
